The natural rock arch and turquoise cove of Broken Beach, Nusa Penida

Broken Beach & Angel’s Billabong

A sea arch and a natural infinity pool

Broken Beach (Pasih Uug) is a circular cove on Nusa Penida’s west coast where the sea has punched a huge arch through the cliffs. The ocean surges through the arch into a turquoise bowl surrounded by grassy clifftops, and a path runs all the way round the rim — one of the most striking coastal walks in Bali.

A few minutes’ walk away is Angel’s Billabong, a clear rock pool on a ledge at the cliff edge that looks like a natural infinity pool. It can be beautiful at low tide on a calm day, but waves regularly wash over it and have swept people into the sea. Look, photograph — and only go in if local guides say it is safe.
